Flashing back to the Trader Tiki days with a TT logo old-fashioned glass, TT logo swizzle, and a TT cocktail recipe. This bracer has 4 rums, 2 types of citrus, 4 (spiced) sweeteners, and bitters, so proceed with caution. I like the retro gold-rimmed glassware - maybe it's time to consider a 5 Minutes of Rum glassware run?
A crowd pleaser of a cocktail and a crowd pleaser of a tiki mug. The proportions make the Miehana an easy cocktail to memorize and an easy cocktail to measure. This liquid god of the orange grove is a Beachbum Berry cocktail from 1999 housed in a Kevin Kidney-designed tiki mug - one of my favorite mugs in my collection and an early purchase when the mug collection was just a half dozen mugs on a black IKEA shelf.
And with the Professor here, I've finally delved into The PDT Cocktail book. What took so long? Who can say? This is a stirred rum cocktail with aged Rhum Agricole, port, sweet vermouth, and two types of bitters. The Professor, attributed to Michael Madrusan in winter of 2007, is a rhum riff on the Chancellor cocktail. I suppose that means this recipe just celebrated 10 years. Cheers.
I was scrolling though some older recipes I’d tagged from Frederic Yarm’s excellent cocktail blog, cocktail virgin, which you too should be reading (you should follow him on Instagram too!). I’m pretty sure I had bookmarked the Lizard King back when it was posted in August of 2014 because it sounded kinda interesting (rum, arrack, cinnamon, lime, allspice) but I didn’t have 1 ingredient on hand at the time: Kronan Swedish Punsch. As of episode 54, aka 11 months ago, I do have a bottle of Kronan Swedish Punsch on hand and so here we are. Mug from Tiki Farm, designed by Mr. G circa 2002.
