5 Minutes of Rum episode 2: Spanish-style rum including Silver Puerto Rican rum, Don Q Cristal, simple syrup, and The Daiquiri.
In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar with 1/2 - 3/4 cup cold water. Stir over very low heat until the sugar is dissolved. Don't bring to a full boil. Remove from heat, cool in pan, and transfer to a syrup bottle. Add 1/2 ounce silver Puerto Rican rum as a stabilizer.
2 oz silver Puerto Rican rum
1 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
Combine the ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Shake, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
