Yes, it's ok to mix with the good stuff too. →
“Like a chain, a cocktail is as strong as its weakest link. Nothing is too good to mix with in my opinion. With that said, most of us have budgetary limitations, so we make do with what we can afford. Ultimately, it’s easier to mix with more modest spirits, as a great (rare or expensive) ingredient requires modifiers of equal merit. It reminds me of buying nice clothes: once you have a great pair of shoes, suddenly your pants look shabby. It can become a vicious cycle.”
Digging into some Potions.
I finally started in on Jeff "Beachbum" Berry's latest book "Potions of the Caribbean" today. Only 2 chapters in but unsurprisingly I'm really enjoying it. The information, the presentation, the recipes, the graphics and photographs...it feels very much like the natural culmination of what he's been doing in his previous books. Expect to hear about it on future episodes. Meanwhile, I couldn't resist a daiquiri, specifically a Hemingway version. I omitted any sugar and shook like it was going out of style. Pretty happy with the results.
Episode guide.
I've added an episode guide with direct links to each episode (as well as a short description). It's available under "Resources" in the main navigation, and can be found at this link. Thanks to listener Jeff for rightfully pointing out that finding older episodes was pretty much a drag.
