It's hard to describe what a thrill it was for me to talk Mai Tai at the Rum Rhum Club at the Tonga Hut today. Tiki Oasis 2009 was a real watershed event for me (in retrospect) and if you'd told 2009 me that I'd be talking about the Mai Tai in a 55-year old tiki bar in 2013 I would have laughed.

Reminder! I'm talking about the Mai Tai on July 14th at 2 PM at The Tonga Hut in North Hollywood as part of the Rum Rhum Club. Come out if you're in the area.
Every 1-2 months, there's a meeting of rum-minded individuals at the Tonga Hut in North Hollywood and we discuss...well...rum. Jamaican rum, rum from the Dominican Republic, Lemon Hart rum, and even specific cocktails like the 'ti Punch.
I'm honored to have been asked to speak at the July 14th, 2013 meeting of the Rum Rhum Club. I'll be presenting An Introduction to the Mai Tai. It's sort of like a live and expanded accompaniment to episode 7, plus it comes with cocktails. So if you're in the area, I'd love to see you there.

Impurities in water, such as dissolved minerals or gases, are part of the what makes ice cloudy, but there are ways to freeze perfectly clear ice without using boiled or distilled water.
